2020 CAP Ride (Remote) Bikeathon
June 2020
Team Rainmaker joined the Canada Africa Partnership (CAP) Ride for the 4th year in a row! The CAP Ride is an annual fundraising bike-a-thon that brings together Canadians to mobilize funds in support of community development efforts in Africa. During this 16th Annual CAP Ride, to keep our community safe during COVID-19 while still mobilizing in support of our partner community, we rode our bikes from our homes on June 5-7 across the country and around the world, while taking part in online activities with the rest of the CAP Ride network! Thanks to all riders, donors, volunteers and community members for helping us make this the best CAP Ride yet. CAD $6,500 was raised for our solar-powered water and irrigation project in Tonj. Thank you for championing one world where each and every individual can achieve their potential, with dignity.

2019 Rainmaker Run
October 19/20, 2019 | Toronto, Canada
We came together at Trinity Bellwoods Park to run and walk together while raising funds to directly impact the lives of over 3,000 people in Tonj, South Sudan, where we recently drilled a well. The funds raised went to support the installation of a solar-powered water system that will create a foundation for food security, health and prosperity in our community for years to come.
Thank you for being with us for the first run to reduce the distance. Reducing the distance of clean water means reducing waterborne illnesses, reducing hunger, reducing thirst, reducing poverty and reducing chronic conflicts. Reducing the distance opens up a world of possibilities.
South Sudan Independence Day Screening
July 9, 2019 | TIFF Theatre, Toronto Canada
In celebration of South Sudan's 8th Independence Day, we screened "Don't Cry For Me Sudan" at TIFF in Toronto. The film is about Tonj, our founder’s hometown; Father John Lee - a pastor, doctor, teacher & conductor who lived and worked in Tonj; and South Sudan's arduous journey to freedom. A beautiful picture of the human spirit and the power of an individual's actions to transform the lives of others. Thank you to all our volunteers who made this event possible, and to everyone who came to learn about our work & what we can do collectively to make a difference.
