Ride to Build Dignity Drop by Drop this Africa Day

Happy Africa Day 2020! 

Since the Organization of African Unity was founded on May 25, 1963 (now the African Union), we mark Africa Day each year on this date. Africa Day celebrates the resilience of the African people, the dignity attained from equitable access to human freedoms, and the vast potential of the continent when these freedoms are realized. 

Universal access to clean water is an essential part of unlocking this potential. By harnessing the power of the sun, we are creating access to water in South Sudan, where half the population lacks access; and where water is the key element to ensuring food security, human health and beating the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Join Raimaker on June 5-7 for a ride (or a run/walk)! With your support, we will raise $5,000 to sustain clean water in Tonj, where we have drilled a well that is now providing 3,000 people with access to clean water each day. 

As we speak, our team is on the way to Tonj to install a solar-powered water pump so we can begin farming this season. In the face of climate change bringing drought, and COVID-19 shutting down food supply chains, creating the capacity for local food production has never been more critical. 

Team Rainmaker is making this happen as part of the 2020 Canada Africa Partnership (CAP) Ride. The CAP Ride is an annual fundraising bike-a-thon that brings together Canadians to mobilize funds in support of community development efforts in Africa.

Join our team and invite your family, friends, neighbours and colleagues to donate in support of your ride! The CAP Ride will take place on June 5-7. We are mobilizing from home this year due to COVID-19 while connecting in common purpose with fellow participants from across the country! As we unite to support each other and ensure the safety of our communities during COVID-19, it is even more critical to stand in solidarity with our African partners to support their incredible work in the face of this unprecedented pandemic.
